Corral de Saus necropolis (Moixent, Valencia)

Vitrina 86
This is one of the most important necropolis of the Valencian area. Incineration tombs dated back to the V century B.C. until either the end of the second century B.C. or the early first century B.C. The oldest ones are pillar-stele-type funerary monuments and groves, built in the course of a few generations. Little else is known about these monumental tombs: they were destroyed around the end of the fourth century and its remains reused into two tombs in the late third and early second centuries B.C.. At this time, adult cremations (mostly men) were deposited in urns decorated with geometric, floral and figurative motifs, of which a selection is shown.
